When Andrew’s brother was giving his toast at Glen Oaks Country Club, he mentioned how Joy was exactly what her name is, and when she enters a room she just makes it brighter and I completely agree from experience! I met Joy at a wedding bridal show here in WDM, and in a sea of about 1000 + people who walked by and took flyers, She was one of the few people I remembered having a really good conversation with! When she reached out to me via email, I set up a time to meet with both her and Andrew over a glass of wine and I knew I had to photograph their wedding!
The wedding was beautiful, the details were stunning, and the wedding party was a hoot! I was really excited to cross off a Glen Oaks Country Club wedding on my bucket list too! It was such a beautiful venue! I know I sound like a sappy wedding photographer, but I’m just a sappy person in general. The way Andrew and Joy look at each other just makes you smile. Their first dance song was so sweet and one I had never heard before but some of the lyrics really stuck with me. Their first dance song was “The Luckiest, by Ben Folds”, if you would like to listen to it!
Its funny how we can have different jobs and careers in life that seem like they have nothing in common until you make a connection. The way Andrew just cares for joy reminded me of a couple I knew when I worked at a nursing home. Raymond and Ruby, the cutest and sweetest little couple you would ever meet. They would tell you about the life they built on the farm, and the many trips across America in a tour guide buss. They were best friends, and they were inseparable. When Ruby passed, I remember Raymond would stop us in the hall, and any chance he got he would talk about his beautiful Ruby, and would ask if we had gotten the chance to meet her. His eyes would light up when I would tell him that yes, I was able to meet her and that she was the sweetest.
I have seen couples who are just getting married and share so much love for each other, and to also witness a couple who had been married 67 years and showed the same love and spark in their eyes has been so meaningful to me. Weddings are so beautiful, and I love being able to capture the beauty they hold, but the people in the photos, thats what matters the most.
To Joy and Andrew, I am so grateful you choose me to be your photographer, and to have the privilege to get to know you, and see you both with your closest friends and family on such a special day. I know that 67 years from now, you guys will be the cute couple who tells others about the amazing adventures you went on, and that you both still adore each other. <3
