A White Wedding Dress isn’t so White After All
You just got engaged, (Eeeeek!!!) You found your venue, and booked the photographer, but now it’s time to think about the dress. So many things will go into the perfect wedding dress for you. Will you want satin, lace, short sleeves, long sleeves, ball gown, sexy silhouette, the possibilities are endless. One thing I do want you to think about is the color.
You might be wondering why it matter what color your dress is. More than that, why would a wedding photographer in Des Moines Iowa care?? Well, sometimes the camera can make colors seem like something they are not. Pure white dresses often photograph with a slight blue tint.

This can most of the time be fixed with editing, but for those who maybe have their guy in a Navy Blue Tux, or bridesmaids with lovely light blue dresses, editing out that blue tint in your white dress becomes much harder. This is something you might want to keep in mind when you go dress shopping.
The good news is that you can still get a white dress and have it photography beautifully! Most of the time, brides think they have a pure white dress, when actually it’s slightly off white. There is a really cool and easy trick to tell instantly if a dress you are looking at is pure white, or off white.
The Tissue Test
All you need to do is bring a tissue to hold up to the dress. If the dress matches, your likely looking at a pure white dress, but if its off a bit you are good to go! Below are some samples of real Iowa Weddings and read Iowa brides in lovely wedding dresses.
Keep in mind, these are only suggestions and if you put on a dress and it just feels right, then you should totally go for it!
