Danielle and Daniel are finally married! WOOT WOOT! (Yes, Dan and Danny, if you call for a Dan either one will answer ya!) Their wedding was in the middle of a heat wave but that did’t stop them from having the most stunning day! Danielles bridesmaids were always nearby with portable fans to keep here cool. They were married in the very cool venue, La Poste! This historic building has some beautiful architecture and the most amazing windows letting in the beautiful June sunlight! While Danielle was getting her hair and makeup done at Estillo Salon, Dan was getting ready at the super chic Hotel Pattee in Perry Ia! The hotel just gives me a 20s vibe, and Dan could have given James Bond a run for his money! I mean, look at him leaning against that grand piano, scotch in hand! (I am pretty pleased with the groom details, and I knew Danielle would appreciate them as well. 😉
What better way to start out your wedding day than with some 12 year old scotch, am I right?!
Danielle shared a sweet moment with her mother, having a first look with her, then moved right outside to have her first look with Dan. After taking a few portraits outside, we hurried back in to cool off and take a couple more photos indoors, and move into wedding party and family formals. La Poste has a neat basement area that they all went down to hang out in before the ceremony!
One of my favorite parts of their wedding ceremony was their unity tree! It reminded me of my own unity terrarium at my wedding 3 years ago! (they both require dirt, so its kinda the same right?!)
After a cool cocktail hour in the basement, the ceremony area was transformed into the reception where everything was so elegant and bright! During dinner, Carol and I went searching for a place to do a few more bride and groom portraits near sunset. There was a spot of trees I was hoping would work, but with the direction of the sun and a lot of other nerdy photographer reasons that spot just wouldn’t have worked well. We looked just beyond this spot to find the most stunning home with a yard that looked straight out of Better Homes and Gardens. So what did I do? I walked up to their door like I was selling Bibles and rang the door bell. No one answered, and my heart broke a little. As we were walking back I saw a gal walking down the path from their yard to get in the car, and because when I am in photographer mode I apparently am not shy at all! I quickly explained the situation and she went and talked with her mom who said we could take as many photos as we like! (personal win for this Iowa wedding photographer!)
I was so excited I could have cried!
We took some stunning photos and then went back inside because its still super muggy outside. We finished out the night with some dancing and the DJ was absolutely hilarious! This wedding, like all of them so far this year, will always have so much meaning to me. I loved every second of it, and my heart is just so grateful and I feel so incredibly lucky to get to work with such outstanding people!
To Dan & Danielle, Its my deepest wish and prayer that you both have a strong, and happy marriage, and have children and grandchildren so you can show them how bomb you looked in your wedding photos! <3
